Hold Candidate Convention

Democrats will meet to nominate a candidate for state representative for House District 1 on July 24 at 10 a.m. in the Coquille Valley School, 1115 N. Baxter.

The 1st District is made up of Curry County, a significant portion of Coos County, and a small part of Douglas County.

The convention is necessary because the nominee resigned shortly after winning the primary election in May.

Elected Democratic precinct committee people representing the precincts within the district will be able to vote. Coos County Democratic Chair Mo Aakre will chair the convention.

Candidates must be registered Democrats for at least six months prior to the convention, and must have lived in the district for a year. All eligible candidates are encouraged to attend the convention.

Afterwards, there will be a no-host lunch at Frazier's Bakery - 23 East 1st Street, Coquille, from 11:30 to 1:30.
